Privacy Policy

        The short version: Wend stores your places on your device. Pro users sync through their own private iCloud account. We use no analytics. There is no Wend server, no account, and nothing we can see. Payments are handled entirely by Apple.

2. Data We Collect

Your places

Pin titles, coordinates, dates, notes, and addresses
Photos attached to pins (stored as image data on your device)
Tags and tag names you create
Trips — names, date ranges, cover photos, and pin associations

This data lives entirely on your device using SwiftData. On Pro, it syncs through your private CloudKit database on your own Apple ID. We — the developers — cannot access it under any circumstances.

Location data

When you drop a pin at your current location, Wend reads your device's GPS coordinates at that moment
This coordinate is stored as part of the pin record on your device — it is never transmitted to us
Wend requests "when in use" permission only. It never accesses your location in the background
Location permission is optional — you can use Wend fully by dropping pins via long-press or search

Subscription data

Subscription status and entitlement information managed by RevenueCat
A pseudonymous user ID generated by RevenueCat to link your purchase to the app
We do not store or process payment card details — all payments are handled by the Apple App Store

Analytics

Wend collects no usage analytics. There is no third-party analytics SDK in the app. We do not know how often you open the app, how many pins you have, or how you use any feature.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide the core experience — storing, displaying, and searching your pins on the map
To sync your places across your devices via your private iCloud account (Pro only)
To manage your subscription and restore purchases via RevenueCat
To power the home-screen widgets (the widget reads your local pin data; nothing leaves the device)

4. Data Storage & Security

All your pins, photos, tags, and trips are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Wend works fully offline without any account.

Pro sync uses Apple's CloudKit service on your own private iCloud database. Data is transmitted over TLS and stored in your Apple-managed iCloud container. The developer has no access to this data — only you, via your Apple ID, do.

Wend has no backend server. There is no Wend database, no Wend cloud, and no infrastructure that holds your data other than your own devices and your own iCloud account.

5. Third-Party Services

Wend uses the following third-party services:

Apple Maps (MapKit) — to render the map and reverse-geocode pin coordinates to addresses. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Apple iCloud / CloudKit — private sync across your own devices (Pro only).
RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat stores a pseudonymous user ID and your subscription status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy for details.

We do not use advertising networks, social SDKs, or any other third-party services.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for any purpose. Your pin data, photos, and notes are never shared — they live on your device and, for Pro users, in your private CloudKit database.

7. Location

Wend uses location only at the moment you choose to drop a pin at your current position. The coordinate is stored with the pin on your device. It is not shared with us or any third party. Wend never requests background location access, and it never tracks your movement over time.

Address resolution (converting coordinates to a human-readable address) is handled by Apple's MapKit reverse geocoding. Apple's privacy policy governs that request.

8. Photos

Wend requests limited photo library access — the iOS "Select Photos" permission that lets you choose specific photos without granting access to your whole library. Photos you attach to pins are stored as image data on your device (and in your private iCloud if you're a Pro subscriber). They are never transmitted to us.

9. Notifications

Wend does not send push notifications of any kind. We do not request or hold notification permissions. There are no reminders, nudges, or alerts.

10. Your Rights & Data Deletion

Delete individual pins at any time by swiping in the list view or using the delete button in the pin editor.
Delete all your data at once from Settings > Data > Delete all data. On Pro, deletion propagates through CloudKit to your other devices.
Uninstalling Wend removes all locally stored data from that device.
To remove iCloud data globally, go to iPhone Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > Wend and delete the data there.
To request any data RevenueCat holds about you (subscription status, pseudonymous ID), contact us at the address below and we will facilitate the request.

11. Children's Privacy

Wend is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can address it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
