2. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on whether you use the free tier or Zona Pro with cloud sync enabled:

• Free tier: No personal information is collected. All data stays on your device.
• Pro tier (with cloud sync): Account information (email address, display name) when you sign in with Apple or email, and focus session data (duration, timestamps, project tags) for cross-device sync.
• All users: Anonymised app usage analytics (via PostHog) — event data that cannot be linked back to you.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the Zona app experience and sync your data across devices (Pro users)
• Improve the app based on anonymised usage patterns
• Respond to support requests you send us

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Stored on Your Device

Zona stores the following information locally on your device using MMKV (a high-performance key-value store):

• Session data — focus session history, durations, timestamps, and project tags
• Projects — project names, colours, and associated session counts
• Preferences — timer settings, daily goal, notification preferences, and display options

On the free tier, none of this data leaves your device.

5. Cloud Sync (Pro)

Pro users who enable cloud sync have their data stored on Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes your account profile, focus sessions, projects, and preferences. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored securely.

You can use Zona Pro without cloud sync — simply don't sign in, and all data remains local.

6. Third-Party Services

Zona uses the following third-party services:

• Supabase — Cloud database and authentication (Pro users with cloud sync only)
• RevenueCat — Subscription management and receipt validation
• PostHog — Product analytics (anonymised, EU hosting)
• Apple Sign In — Authentication (when you choose to sign in with Apple)

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

7. Analytics

We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to collect anonymised usage analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used and where to focus improvements. Analytics data includes events like "session started" or "screen viewed" but does not include your session content, project names, or any personally identifiable information.

You can disable analytics tracking in your device's app tracking settings.

8. In-App Purchases

Zona Pro subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment information (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). RevenueCat receives an anonymised app user ID and subscription status to manage entitlements.

9. Children's Privacy

Zona is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

10. Data Retention and Deletion

Free-tier data is stored only on your device. Deleting the app removes all local data.

Pro users with cloud sync can delete their account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, sessions, and projects from our servers.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal data:

• GDPR (EEA/UK): Right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and port your data.
• CCPA (California): Right to know what data is collected, request deletion, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data).

Free-tier users: all data is under your direct control on your device. Pro users: contact us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review the policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
