Open the book in Omnibus and tap Start session when you start reading. When you stop, tap Stop and enter the page you reached. The pages between the start page and that one, and the time in between, are the session. You can also log a sitting after the fact with Log session on the book, or Log on the Now tab.

Every number in the app is pages over time. Without a page count there is nothing to measure progress against, so sessions cannot be logged until one is entered. Open Library supplies it for most books; otherwise edit the book and type it in.

Pace is pages an hour over your last seven sessions that lasted at least five minutes and moved forward. It appears once there are two such sessions. The five-minute threshold is in Settings under Sessions.

Pages read over the last 14 calendar days, divided by 14, gives pages a day. Days with no reading count as zero, so a reader who does 200 pages every other Sunday projects at 14 pages a day rather than 200. The date is the pages left divided by that, rounded up. It needs two sessions on the book and is shown as around a date, never as a promise.

It is waiting for its end page. The next time Omnibus opens it asks where you got to before anything else. If a day passes without an answer, the session is saved with no progress and a note saying so; it is never dropped.

Yes. Hide lowers the sheet with the timer still running, and the book's card shows Open session to bring it back. Discard, behind a confirmation, is the only way to lose the time.

Three ways on the Add screen: search Open Library by title, author or ISBN; scan the barcode on the back; or enter it by hand. The barcode route needs the camera; if that is unavailable or declined, the other two are right there.

Open Library. A cover is fetched once and kept with the book. If one is missing, Omnibus draws a placeholder from the title and tries again next time it opens with a connection.

Read again starts a fresh reading on the same book. The first read keeps its dates, sessions and rating under Earlier readings.

On the book, under Highlights, tap Add highlight and type or paste the passage, with the page and a note of your own if you like. The Highlights tab collects every one, grouped by book.

The target spread evenly across the year, measured against today's date. Two ahead means you have finished two more books than that line says you should have by now. A goal set in September starts behind, because the line has been moving since January.

Export your library from Goodreads as a CSV, save it somewhere the Files app can see, then in Omnibus go to Settings, Import, Goodreads export. Read books become Finished with their date and rating, currently reading becomes Reading, to-read becomes To Read, and your other shelves become tags. Books already in your library are skipped. Settings, Export, Back up as file writes a JSON file with everything in it. Restore from backup reads one back in, merging by id and never deleting. Both are free.

With Omnibus Pro, turn on iCloud sync in Settings. Your library is mirrored through the private database of your own iCloud account and appears on your other devices signed into the same account, usually within a minute. The status line in Settings says what the app is doing. Part of Omnibus Pro.

It shows the books on the go from your iPhone, times a session with pause and stop, and asks for the end page with the Digital Crown. The session appears on the phone. Complications show the current book, and the corner one starts a session. The Watch app is part of Omnibus Pro, which can be bought on the watch itself or on the iPhone.

A one-off purchase of £7.99 with no subscription, shared with your family through Family Sharing. It adds iCloud sync, the Apple Watch app, the full Stats tab, highlight search and share cards, Goodreads import, CSV export, Lock Screen widgets and goals for other years. Everything in the free app stays as it is.

Open Settings and tap Restore Purchases on the paywall, signed into the same Apple Account. The Watch has its own paywall with Buy and Restore Purchases, and each device tells the other as soon as it knows.

Nothing is taken away. Highlights, goals and everything you logged stay. Sync, highlight search, share cards, import and CSV export stop, and the Watch app locks. The JSON backup stays free.
